The story of original minds
The beginning
The idea for Original Minds was born in a moment that every parent of a neurodivergent child will recognize. A mix of love, chaos, and realization. We were at an indoor playground with our son, Sickan, who has autism and an intellectual disability. As he ran around freely, my wife turned to me and said: “Why don’t we just have a cap that says autism on it?”
That simple thought sparked our journey. When we couldn’t find any clothing that represented autism in a proud, modern, and stylish way, we decided to create it ourselves. With our background in art and design, we wanted to turn our creativity into something meaningful - clothes that carry a message of inclusion, understanding, and originality.
We hope you wear them with pride, knowing that being original is something truly worth celebrating.
The next chapter
Growing together
Since May this year, Kim and Jennifer have joined as co-owners of Original Minds - bringing new energy, ideas, and a shared passion for positive change.
Kim’s strength in building connections and promoting meaningful initiatives has already helped our message reach further, while Jennifer contributes her creativity and deep understanding as a parent of a child with autism. Their son Frank, who inspires much of their vision, reminds us every day why inclusion matters.
Together, we continue to grow as a family - united by love, creativity, and the belief that originality should always be celebrated.
Our mission
To Promote Inclusive Thinking
Original Minds exists to increase understanding and awareness of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), known in Swedish as neuropsykiatriska funktionsvariationer (NPF). We believe that diversity is a strength and that society thrives when there is room for every way of thinking, feeling, and being.
Our goal is to help build a more inclusive world where people with NDDs have the right conditions to succeed, both in life and at work. Through our efforts, we aim to spread knowledge, challenge stigma, and support initiatives that make a real difference.
We believe in continuous improvement and want to help drive change forward, not only around NDDs but also other disabilities. For us, it is about creating lasting positive impact where every step counts and every action matters.
Our clothing is part of that mission. Each piece carries a message and directly contributes to our shared goal to increase understanding, spread knowledge, and create opportunities for more people. By choosing Original Minds, you are helping to make a difference today and for the future.
As part of our commitment, we donate at least 5% of our profit to organizations, companies, and projects that promote awareness and inclusion for people with NDDs and other disabilities. In this way, we do not just talk about change, we are part of making it happen.
By clearly defining our promise, we set the direction for everything we do. It is a reminder of why we exist, to drive change, inspire others, and contribute to a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
